2022 X7 M50i (70k miles) — Advice on warranty / service plan options?
Hi everyone,
I recently bought a 2022 BMW X7 M50i with about 70,000 miles. I’m trying to decide what warranty and/or service coverage makes sense at this mileage and would love advice from owners who’ve been down this road |

I love the X7 M50i as well and was looking at 2022 models awhile ago. But, if I did get a used one, I would DEFINITELY buy a warranty for it. I hear nightmare stories about transfer case/differential failures and the cost to replace them. Also, the pain of getting stealerships to do transfer case fluid changes seems frustrating. I wonder if Route 66 Warranty covers X7s as I have it for my M550i. Subscribing to this thread.

If you don't diy, it's not a great idea to buy a 70k mile car that cost 100k when new. Just in general.
At this point I don't think you can get a reasonably priced mechanical insurance. Just find a good indy and keep up with the maintenance. |

With that engine, I would make sure to change the oil every 5k miles with a good oil - either BMW oil or Liqui Moly with BMW or Mann filters. |

willing to learn and do what’s realistic, but I’m new to DIY:
I'm good in Tech, Any specific scanner that reads BMW-specific modules I would like to explore. I'm already running ISTA. DIYs I’m thinking about (please add/correct): 1. Oil changes + coolant 2. Engine air filters + cabin filters 3. brake fluid flush 4. Battery I read a lot of negative reviews about Transfer case and socks Plz add your suggestions. Thanks you :-) |

With ista you are all set
Transfer case fluid needs to be flushed. And zf fluid as well, even if you don't change the filter. I'd do that every 20k and maybe twice in a row the first time. The g generation is highly reliable. That said, one should not expect these cars to maintain themselves. My e70 x5 had 140k miles when I sold it, my f25 x5 has 120k miles and is going strong, and my tow vehicle is a f85 x5m. All work well and I don't lose sleep about breakdowns. |
