can BMW deny warranty claims if oil change is overdue by a month? 4200 miles only.
can BMW deny warranty claims if oil change is overdue by a month? 4200 miles only, since the previous oil change at the same BMW dealer back in February 2025.
I live very far from the nearest BMW dealer and requires 4 hours of driving time. My oil change is due on 2/15. My brake fluid is due 3/15. Since both are still free from BMW, my service advisor scheduled me for 3/5 so the brake fluid will be free and I wouldn't have to make two trips. since last week, my car and the BMW app have been nagging me about the overdue oil service whenever I get into the car. Thanks! |

Best to call your dealer and confirm. They certainly have the right to deny claims if you exceed the recommended service interval.

I have had oil changes both earlier than recommended and later. The dealership never gave me any issues with warranty work.

Very unlikely. They are more worried about exceeding the mileage recommendation (car will display the oil change warning at about 8000-9000 miles) than going over by a month.

My car is currently in winter storage and will be 1 month over the 12 month period due date before I am able to bring the car in for the oil change. My dealer said no problem. They said for the free service to make sure that when I take the car out of storage do not reset the maintenance reminder. Let the dealer do that at the time of the oil change.

For example for a malfunctioning alternator, a suspension or electrical problem would still be covered under the warranty regardless of when you changed your oil and/or brake fluid. Hope this helps!@ |
