Extended warranty or not? 2022 BMW i4

I've got a 2022 BMW i4 with about 46k miles on the clock. Plan to keep the car a 2-3 more years.

Extended warranty quotes vary quite a bit. From Rosemark 3yr 45k more miles is $2,800. From AutoXcel the same warranty is about $3,700 (but much higher labor rate allowance). From BMW it's $5,800.

I'm struggling to see how these are worth it? On an EV yes I could have a problem with the drive motor or battery but those are covered for several more years anyway. Short of having an HVAC failure or full iDrive failure, which I think both would be rare, these warranty prices seem pretty darn high.

I'd appreciate any help/guidance.

BMW has really improved in terms of reliability over the past couple of years. I've own my 2019 BMW M4 F82 since new and it's almost 7 years old with 72K miles and the extended warranty from BMW was really pricey, it was like 7-8K to cover up 3 additional years (Total 7 in service years) with an additional 30K miles I think but I would hit the time before the miles.

I only had 2 out of pocket expenses that totaled 2.6K for actual repairs (Valve Cover ($2k), Wheel Speed Sensor ($600) in my 7-year ownership, so if I actually bought the warranty I would have lost like $5Kish.

I had concerns about my turbos going bad and other turbo related things but those were covered up to 7years/70K miles for Emission Warranty.

So I would probably skip the extended warranty if I were you, I've heard the i4 doesn't have that many problems and is pretty reliable.

I also have an i4 and probably wouldn't bother (and won't if I end up buying it). As you say, the battery is covered for 8 years/100,000 miles, and there's not all that much else to go wrong. $5,800 is kinda nuts for that car, IMO, and if I were going to do one it'd only be through BMW, Fidelity, or Assurance (or CarMax if I were buying there).
