X5 high/strange idle on cold start - video attached

2016 X5 - N55

On a cold start, idle instantly drops (for >5 seconds), then idles higher than normal (approx. 5 seconds), then idles normally. Everything else seems normal.

I replaced the Crankcase Vent Hose and it seemed to help for a couple days (maybe it was my imagination, idk).

Any thoughts? This has been happening for many months and not getting better, or worse.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

A dashboard take would look better.

Don't overlook the model's dedicated forum.

Have errors read.

Check/replace the spark plugs.

Have you checked the actual PCV? A failed PCV can cause this as well as a vacuum leak and also issues with the SAI system, if that car has it.

I was thinking the PCV….. I believe the problem started around the time when I changed the valve cover gasket…… maybe its just a coincidence. I’ll read codes and post. Hopefully someone has ran across this issue. Thanks!
