Trans. Malfunction Position P may not be possible. (Thoughts, help?)

Hey guys, was driving for about 10 minutes, got to my destination and got the
Transmission Malf. Position P May Not be available.
Turned off the car and it stayed in N. Any thoughts or ideas what it could be before i head to BMW? This happened one time before but that time it went in park and never heard from it again.

Have you done any driveshaft work or have you touched the transmission to do tranny mounts or anything like that? It happened to me after I did my driveshaft replacement (to a one piece aluminum). To be able to turn the driveshaft and let the tranny and DCT spin freely like its in Nuetral to access all bolts, there is a manual parking cable selector on the DCT, on the passenger side of the tranny fluid pan. It allows you to manually put it nuetral, and then you can see if it pops back into Park when jacked up or on lift

Are you referring to the one under the shifter boot? If that was set to nuetral you would not be able to get in gear at all.
