Eventuri Carbon fiber Plenum – Broken inlet trumpet
Has anyone else had experience that the “glue” on the inside has come loose on the inlet trumpets?
Chunks of glue, or bonding material have started to fall off inside. And the trumpet is completely loose. Looks like fatigue, and the bonding has started cracking. My plenum is from 2021, and if I remember correctly is the second batch that was made. No: 0437 The first there was a problem with the trumpets, but they changed the bonding process after the first. Looks like it was not good enough Waiting for a reply from where I bought it. I hope they have a solution to the issue Last edited by Mandersm; 05-24-2025 at 09:04 AM.. |

If you search around, it's not the first time a carbon plenum has broken a trumpet.
This is why some companies have switched to aluminium trumpets. https://www.m3post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1836044 |

This is so damn annoying. Pay $2k+ dollars and have to deal with this garbage. I actually bought a used Plenum and discovered a similar situation that seller never disclosed, but I guess that’s on me. How did you discover this?

My car is at the shop for the seasons upgrades, and the plenum was taken of.
They discovered the loose trumpet when they was going to put the plenum back on. What’s worrying is that the car has been taken out of winter storage a couple weeks ago. So this probably acoured last year, but for how long the trumpet has been loose i dont know. The trumpet is stiled glued to the steel flange. It only rotates back and forth very loose. |

Yea I meant the flanges/collars, not the trumpets. I believe that change addresses the issue shown here.

Any advice on how to fix or what to use on a flanges/collar when they become loose and detach from the plenum?

But the plenum I have has metal flanges, on the outside.
Or have they made a locking flange on the inside as well on the latest updated version? The trumpet and the metal flange are still glued together. I made a video but not shure how to upload it here. Looks like only pictures are possible. |

The screws on the silver ones seem to indicate a two piece design that sandwiches the plenum in between. Maybe that was the update to the design: Last edited by a5m; 05-25-2025 at 01:30 AM.. |

Yes the silver metal flanges looks like it might be a two piece design.
Would be interesting to see how the latest design with the silver flanges looks like on the inside. Can’t find any pictures of it. Serial number on the one I have is 0437 Made in 2021, wheen I bought it. Last edited by Mandersm; 05-25-2025 at 05:46 AM.. |

Back in 2021, I wanted to buy this plenum, but I heard about trumpet failures and stayed away. I ended up buying a Carboproject plenum instead. Fast forward to 2024 and I noticed the clear coat on my Carboproject was starting to crack. I looked into Eventuri again and realized they had an updated version out. I bought one last fall and installed it just before storing the car for winter. The new design looks like the throttle body adapters are bolted to the velocity stacks. There are three bolts/screws per throttle body adapter. I guess there are nuts holding everything tight inside, but it's hard to tell as there is glue and bonding material on top of the bolts/screws. I can remove my intake and take pictures of the inside of the plenum if you want to see what it looks like.

Not what I expected... Serial # 1414
Imran@Evolve Looks like the screws are going into a glob of epoxy? I can take better pictures if you guys want to see something in particular, but I didn't see any metal collars or anything inside. Last edited by a5m; 05-27-2025 at 08:36 PM.. |

It's impossible to tell if there are nuts and possibly a washer underneath the epoxy to solidify everything. Those bolts can't just be going through the bottom of the velocity stacks and be held by the epoxy, that wouldn't help much at all. Like you said, there are no visible metal collars inside. Maybe Eventuri could chime in to explain the design.

I sent Eventuri an email this morning asking how the plenum is built and if there are any lock nuts on the screws underneath the epoxy.
I got a prompt response from Bilal and here's what he said: "The screws are held in place with lock nuts which sit on a carbon flange that is part of the trumpet. Then they use epoxy over the nuts as an added measure." "Adding the lock nuts was a bit tricky but just about had enough space. Also we are using Aerotight lock nuts which don't come loose under vibrations like the traditional nuts do." So the velocity stacks are not sandwiched between two pieces but secured to the throttle body adapters via the screws and nuts. If I understand correctly, the bottom of the plenum is what is sandwiched between the velocity stack and the throttle body adapter. This puts me at ease that the plenum should hold up over time. Infinity Design's S85 plenum and upcoming S65 plenum are built similarly, bolting the throttle body adapters to the velocity stacks to eliminate failures. This is according to what Salman at Infinity told me.
