Post Can someone explain what the 240e file is?

I am in process of buying a modded E90 M3, macht schnell bolt on kit (intake, underdrive pulleys, catless midpipe) with an RK Tuners tune on it.

Provided by RK, is the 240e file which to my understanding from talking to the seller and doing my own research, should revert the car back to stock so that I can smog it (once I take off the intake and put the stock midpipe back on).

My questions are as follows:

1) What is the 240e file? I have seen references to 240, 240e, 240ee and even 140? If someone could explain in laymans terms that would be great

2) Could the 240e file that I have from RK be "out of date"? It's 6 years old (2018 date code) so I am just wondering if that will cause any issues when flashing back to stock perhaps?

3) Assuming everything above checks out, If I do flash back to stock with the 240e should a tuner like BPM / Alpine / Dinan etc be able to hop into the ECU and upload their own maps to the car with no issue?

Thanks a lot in advance for those who help out here

It’s one of the last official versions of engine software from BMW. (241e being the last). There will be no new versions.

Tuners won’t have any issue, it’s just like flashing a stock car.

Turns out that we are now on 241E as per Alpine's website https://alpinemss.com/products/e9x-m...tune-2007-2013
