DCT / BimmerLink Connection

Hey all, not sure how many people have the phone app BimmerLink, but I use it to monitor temps, read codes, battery coding, etc. Now that we are getting into colder months, I am trying to read my transmission fluid temperature however BimmerLink does not show it correctly. I can select it on the app, however it gives me some negative reading (i.e. -140 deg F). I obviously know that's not the correct temperature but is there a work around for this? I have seen some people correctly reading it on their apps/cars.

If it is any help, mine is a May 2010 build date but a 2011 ZCP model.

Doesn’t work and the devs say they can’t make it work in their app. I’ve emailed them directly.

Do you think that the devs just aren’t looking at the correct variable or value in the TCU? There has to be a temperate reading somewhere if you can get overheat errors on the iDrive screen..

Yes there are DCT temp sensors possible to access. Using Bimmergeeks Protool end of this thread; https://www.m3post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1772232&page=2

The only downside is you’d have to read the transmission temperature off that single app, requires android, and presumably a new adapter as well. Not sure why BimmerLink can’t update to show the temps…

I used to have a setup for ProTool back when I had a N54 335, suppose I might be able to dig up my login info but not sure it’ll work.

Update: Talked to BimmerLink Support and they said an update will be released to read values from transmission control unit in the future, but have no release date in mind yet.

Looks like this will just have to wait for the time being...
