New Whining noise after service. Normal?

Just got my rod bearings done, engine mounts, DCT service and oil pump chain replaced. After this the car has a whining noise, or if the hood was closed you would think there is a super charger under the hood. lol

I have seen other people post their engine noise and most say this is normal. This doesn't seem normal to me.

I have attached 3 videos, one of the engine before service and the other two after. Please let me know some things to tell the technician to check as I don't think this noise is normal.

Power steering pump. Check fluid level and bleed the system.

Did that - also no notable change if I turn the steering wheel.

A few more facts..the services below were completed 10/31/2024

Mileage 79,000
Rod bearings and bolts changed
DCT was serviced
Engine Mounts
Diff service
Oil pump chain - changed - is there any special adj for this or is it pretty standard
The tech's where i got the car serviced said this was normal. I didn't remember the pre service video - but in that video it sure doesn't have that whining noise.

Any and all suggestions will be welcome.

The only other thing that comes to mind is maybe the the backlash on the oil pump isn’t set properly but you would think a shop that changed that chain as a regular part of rod bearing service would check that.

this thread mentions check backlash while dry

I am with you..the only thing i can think as the other service items wouldn't make the engine whine like that. I will inquire for sure.

Thank you!

Just got the car back - it took quite a while to get the job done - we had a little issue with the chain on the oil pump not being "lashed" correctly. But give it to the shop - I took the car back and told them i would appreciate relashing the chain - they did so without any fuss - and luckily they did have another e93 in the shop for reference - and mine sounded like it had a super charger under the hood and was quite a bit louder than the other one. But all is good now and the old rod bearing were in great shape - which lends to the fact the previous owner said he took good care - which appears that he did. But all do so far....
