Do I have to code out the airbags?

I’m starting to strip the car and of course there are airbags everywhere. Other than the srs light, is there any reason i should care to code them out right away? And is there any order of operations there (meaning can code out after the light’s been triggered or something)?

you typically don't want airbags enabled for a car that see's track time to be honest. especially if you're caging it. I've seen airbags go off on track for literally just driving over curbing.

for what it's worth, that's a solid 15lbs of weight savings removing the airbags lol.

the BEAUTY of it though, is you can just code out specific sections of the air bags... at least

no no, that's my point. i'm going to rip all of them out. my question is if the airbag light doesn't bother me, is there any reason to worry about coding them out.

oh, brain still not on apparently.. lol

other than it being to look at... not really. I don't think the car "believing' it has failed air bags will cause any mechanical set backs.

If you remove everything the only thing that cares is the cluster. You can code the two "SFY" options to nicht_aktiv and the light will go away.

Kind of a lie, the DCT (if you have one) will have a shadow code because it can't see the seat belt buckle but it doesn't care.
