Need advice!
![]() While waiting on a new starter motor, injectors, coil packs, and PCV from FCP, I took everything apart from the top of my engine in preparation and started to clean the middle valley section of the engine since it looked to have collected a little bit of gunk over the years (125k miles) Afterwards I decided to tear completely apart my ICV and throttle bodies for a deep scrub as well while I have time. Upon testing the actuating valve of each throttle body, I noticed some of them were not slamming shut while slowing closing. The actuator would hover about 1mm from the idle stop screw. It would only hit the screw if I let go and let the valve slam to close. So then my dumbass decided to move the idle stop screws around to see if it would help with the closing of the valves. I only alter the screws from the four throttle bodies of bank 2 (driver side) before stopping to go searching for adjustment tutorials on the internet, bank 1 idle screws are still untouched. Only after did I learned that the throttle body idle screw adjustments were set at factory and should never be changed! ![]() Soo... in all honesty, how screwed am I and does anyone have the procedure to correctly set the throttle body idle set screw on the S65 motor?? Should I start looking for a used throttle body assembly on eBay? Please help! |

dinan throttle body install outlined how to adjust these IIRC, youre not supposed to adjust the stock ones but hopefully there is a document outlining how to bring them back into calibration.

Hey thanks for the info. I looked at Dinan's instruction and it referenced back to BMW TIS #1354010 procedure for adjustment, which is the Throttle Valve Basic Setting based off of the idle stop screw settings from factory to work with, lol. I did learn something about which correct bolt to use for the actuating rod however. From what I read, the Honda guys are doing 1 full turn in with the screw from contact with the actuating lever while the valve is at soft close position. I'll start from there and see how it goes... |
