Carbon Lid/GruppeM Intake in Addition to Plenum Worth It?

My brother got me an Eventuri Plenum (love you bro) and I'm wondering how much additional noise you get when adding the CF Airbox Lid? How about the tube also, or either or? If anybody did these mods in stages I'd love to hear your experience.

I was looking at the GruppeM Intake too. It by itself sounds like you already have a carbon plenum, so would it add any additional sound or would it be a wash?

My intake noise was definitely louder when I added Armaspeed CF intake to my Carboproject CF plenum. In fact the Arma intake was louder than the plenum.

Thanks for replying.

Interesting. That's also something to consider, the sound benefit of the plenum being rendered null with a loud intake like the Arma or GruppeM.

It isnt rendered null. Think of the plenum and air box as sound sources, 'speakers' so to speak. Adding a 2nd louder speaker doesn't make the first speaker disappear. It's still there, just that the louder speaker is more dominant.

I still hear my plenum and it's more dominant at lower rpms. At WOT high rpm, the Arma intake is definitely louder.

Yea that makes sense. I was worried one might overpower the other.

I hope someone who's added these intakes to a cf plenum can chime in. I know you have the CarboProject but curious if the differences between your setup and the one I'm going for would sound any different (if at all).

Just don't run a lid. Much cheaper.

Did you do this and find no change or increase in sound?

I do run mine without. There is a minor increase in sound but the majority of it comes from the carbon plenum

Gotcha. Yea I realized today watching videos of intakes and plenums, that having both may be like listening to two favorite songs at once. You won't be able to fully enjoy either.

Still hoping someone who runs the full carbon fiber intake from airbox to plenum can chime in, but think the plenum alone will be plenty.

I wouldn't say that I think the two are complimentary. Just think the airbox lid is negligible. I can't recall how much the Eventuri lid costs but I venture to imagine it's not worth it - unless you really want the aesthetic.
