Found BMW key in the road. How to reunite it with its owner

I was running and saw a BMW key in the road in the DC/VA area. Nothing to identify its owner, but it does have a building key fob. I can try craigslist lost and found. But is there a better way? Can a BMW dealer locate the owner if I take the key to a dealer? Other ideas?

Dealer should be able to get the VIN from the key and they can look up the owner that way if the car was at the dealer recently. That's assuming the owner takes it in for service at the dealer.
