Clutch Travel Shortens after high RPM shifts

On my last couple canyon runs I noticed that after a few consecutive high rpm shifts, my clutch pedal travel would noticeably decrease.

After engaging a gear the pedal would return to about 80% of the full range of travel.

Functionally there seems to be no issue, the car engages gear without issue.
In normal driving, the issue does not occur.

Does anyone have an idea what this could be?

I had the exact same issue with my E9x. My car was an 08 with 140K miles on the original clutch. When I had my engine replaced we overhauled the entire clutch system. New flywheel, clutch kit, throw out bearing, clutch fork, pivot pin and guide tube.

My theory is the pressure plate may have been worn out or the clutch was not fully releasing as the grease may have dried up on the splines of the transmission input shaft. Once all of the new components were installed it remedied my issue.

Thanks for the info, my car is also an 08 and similar mileage original clutch.
Doesn't sound like a cheap fix!

Source the clutch and flywheel from Rockauto and get everything else from your preferred vendor, like FCP Euro or something equivalent.
