do i need to code a new SZL?
chasing an EDC fault (5FE1, steering angle adjustment), bought a used SZL + clockspring assembly. Ended up keeping the clockspring from my car and using the new unit. I encoded the DSC through NCSExpert which if I understand also "encodes" the SZL, and then ran the calibration in ISTA which was successful. Do i need to do anything extra to explicitly code the SZL? Read somewhere that they're VIN-matched but I don't know if I need to do anything about that?
Aaaand I still have the 5FE1 fault even though the calibration succeeds and I get reasonable values from the sensor. Also, interestingly enough when I try to run jobs from SZL.prg in Tool32, I get a communication error. EDC_K jobs run fine...

you need to vin code the szl, use winkfp to write the vin and program the module.

also, other than the EDC stuff i'm seeing (which i'm starting to think is just a bad EDC module), is there any issue with not doing that? everything works, i get a steering angle reading in ISTA, there are no other errors...
