Engine Power on Startup

2008 BMW E93 M3 with 37K miles. Got Reduced Engine Power and DSC Malfunction warning this morning when I started the car after 3 weeks. The start-up idling was rather meek and smelled of fuel. I could tell the engine power was low. After driving on the highway for 10 miles at 80mph I stopped at the gas station. The car started just fine with regular engine power and no errors.

This is the 2nd time I got the Reduced Engine Power. Thoughts on the issue? Time for spark plug change?

Reason for DSC Malfunction?

Thank you!

The Throttle Actuators are starting to fail.

Thank you!

I scanned the codes and got P1628 from Bank #1. I guess its safe to presume the TAs are on their way out?

Also check the battery. If the capacity drops too far you can have weird issue. If you can let it sit again for 2-3 days. Check Voltage if still 12.2v or higher you are fine on battery. If its in the high 11s the battery is too weak.
You can get TA code with low battery.

Update: Thanks tlrid3r for the suggestion on the battery. I put a new battery (since the old battery had reduced charge and auto zone testing deemed the battery dying) and drove it later same day. Got no engine warning or codes. Started the car after 24 hours and unfortunately got the same Reduced Engine Power and DSC Malfunction warning. I guess TA need work?

Is your battery properly coded and registered o the car with the IBS properly plugged in? Carly doesn't count. It doesn't register batteries properly.

Yep - exactly! Would you recommend rebuilding the TAs with the kit?

No. The gear kit doesn't address failing components on the motherboard such as the MOSFETS and transistors. I recommend getting rebuilt T.A.s from:

https://eupartspalace.com/product/bm...ttle-actuator/

Re-Manufactured Throttle Actuator Unit
Unlimited Miles Lifetime Warranty
Gears upgraded to superior materials made in the USA that will outlive the car
All Mosfets replaced
Transistors and capacitors tested
Voltage regulator, microprocessor, serial Eprom tested or changed

Thanks all for the directional advice - I replaced the TAs and the car is humming! Thanks to all the DIY-ers on this forum - the job took 4 hours.

Thank you Abdul at Euro Parts Palace, now Euro Power Motorsports, that I bought the rebuilt TAs from.

Nice call on this particularly with the OP only at 39k miles.
