Combo grilles

I know there is another grille thread but I’m specifically seeing if anyone has a combo grille.
I have a griddle, a vertical smoker and a pizza oven but I have no regular propane grille which I feel like is definitely lacking.
Then I see 1/2 propane and 1/2 charcoal grilles…..

VIOLA! I’m thinking this is a must have to cover every base but wondering if it’s just overkill and just get a propane grille.

Anyone have one?
Not looking for a top of the line, def middle of the road as grilles die in this humidity.

Since it’s Labor Day, looking to pick one up this weekend (since I have been procrastinating for weeks on my decision)
Pics and seller for bonus points

My gas grill comes with a charcoal tray but I have never used it. Not sure how a combo gas / charcoal grill will work because I think air control is important for charcoal / wood and gas grills aren’t really built that way. Maybe a combo grill is.

I am considering supplementing my gas grill with a Kamado Joe. But I’ll probably think about it until I either can’t stand thinking about it and just buy it, or decide it’s not worth it. Right now leaning towards getting one though and think it can serve as a charcoal / wood grill, smoker and pizza oven. Then keep the gas grill for convenience.

In FL I have a half charcoal half propane, never use the charcoal, too lazy, would not buy again.

On the other hand in NC I have a half pellet smoker half propane and it's the best shit ever! Will never use my old propane wood smoker ever again. Thinking of buying the same one for FL and dumping the charcoal gas combo and old smoker.

Do it! I got one for the house here in SC and love it. Also have a propane grill and each serves its purpose. Having moved a couple month ago I have yet to try out smoking. Too busy unpacking, painting etc but the painting finished today so time to get off my butt (pun intended).

How well do they roll? Can I get it from the back patio, over lawn to the garage if a hurricane is on its way?

I wouldn’t try that! As you know it’s damn heavy but as long as the the ground is dry and firm I suppose it’s possible in an emergency.

That’s my biggest hesitation. If I leave it out in a storm, maybe it gets destroyed but if I have to move, maybe I can’t.

I understand. Don’t have those worries here which is one reason I waited until we moved here to get one. Having said that, I never moved my natural gas grill in Nola during a storm but it was fairly well protected by neighboring houses, our house, fence etc.

Edit: I have the classic joe 2 which is perfect for us. Just looked and realized they have come out with the 3 so you can pick up a 2 pretty cheap right now…

I like that idea but I have a pellet smoker and just thought it was too redundant. Do you know which one you have or a shot of something similar?

Ended up getting just a propane grille. The combo one I wanted was way too big for the area I am putting it in

Why would anyone cook over propane when they could be grilling/smoking over coals or even pellets. I have a large big green egg I use for long smoking of meats; a small BGE that I use for direct grilling of steaks, burgers and such; and I have a very large Traeger pellet smoker for large cooks in which I'm usually smoking a couple of full packer briskets over night or several racks of ribs at a time. The Traeger is as easy to use as a propane grill. Just turn it on and control it with my phone app via wifi and I often use it just as a normal oven when I don't want to mess up my kitchen oven.

I've also done side by side taste tests with pork butts/shoulders and full packer briskets smoked on the BGE and another on the Traeger and no one has ever been able to tell the difference.

Just timing mostly, many nights one of us gets home late and just ignite and go.
