My totaled E92 M3..is it fixable?

Not sure if this is the right place to post or not.

Drunk driver ran a red light as I was going through a green and destroyed my front end. Still trying to get over it

I wanted to take this on as a project car.
Based on the picture is this fixable?

To get specific, what components behinds the bumper appear to be damaged?

As for the car; from the looks of it, that's some decent subframe damage. While that sometimes can be fixed, I doubt it for what I'm looking at. You most likely would have it totaled by insurance. If it was hit by a drunk driver, I'm assuming the other insurance company would have already completed an assessment and either totaled it or started a repairs claim?

What's the verdict with insurance? Regardless it needs to be assessed by a qualified body shop.

this one is likely a goner.

Really unfortunate, but if you are OK that is what matters.

Remove any mods and part them out to make up where your Ins company will low ball you.

If I have the frame damaged fixed, and then buy something like this (https://www.copart.com/lot/39990222/...-m3-mi-detroit) to use a donor car. Would a body shop be able to interchange the parts I need?

I'd imaging whatever remains of the donor car can be parted out to recoup some of the cost.

Thoughts?

I still don't understand where insurance is in all of this? What's the deal with that?

Insurance qualified it as a total loss. Did a settlement and the buyback with the insurance.

I was able to snag a similar E92 last week. Happy to be back in an E92 M3.

My old totaled E92 holds a lot of sentimental value to me. Not looking to restore and sell. I am taking it as an opportunity to learn more about the car, which is why I was buying a donor car for cheap and swapping parts could make sense. Fully understand not a financially advisable decision.

That's why my question more so is "is it possible within reason" to restore the car.

Ahhhhhhhh! Ok, that was not clear from your original post and I was confused if they weren't going to pay for it, or what was going on. All good and thanks for clarifyin!

Honestly....I wouldn't have bought it, not in that condition at least. If it had rear or side damage no front end damage, then the motor and a lot of goodies could have been had/parted out. Without taking out the front end and looking at crank, water pump, oil housing, pan....I mean all of those items could have been cracked or broken off.

That thing is hit hard,

the inner fender support is damaged, frame extension rail on the driver side is badly damaged. It can be fixed but fixing it right will take some money, that body extension rail (frame rail) is welded near the firewall and will require the engine to be removed to r/r that. There are shops that can probably pull it really well but this car I would walk away from.

I feel for you and empathize with you. I think you are throwing good money at bad money.

Anything can be repaired, in a technical sense. An Enzo was ripper in two and put back together. I wonder what it drives like compared to a clean one.
