NGK Ignition Coil Fitment

I recently ordered NGK ignition coils and according to the shop performing the work, the fitment isn't correct. I find this hard to believe unless they straight up sent the wrong parts, which seems unlikely since I inspected them and they look exactly like OEM.

Here's the note I got from the mechanic:

"Apparently they are a little bit longer than the stock ones and they do not have a conductive spring inside like the stock ones, so when they are in the block the spark plug tip does not contact the coil, it just sits in the rubber."

Has anyone else experienced this with NGK coils? I'm kind of stuck at the moment due to the aftermarket supply shortage. No way in hell I'm paying $240 each for the BMW logo. I may just have him replace cylinder 3 (the one throwing codes) with genuine bmw, then wait until the aftermarket supply is back and replace the other 7 with Bosch.

Lots of ppl are using these ngk coils. In fact, I recall seeing an Eldor logo on the coils sold by NGK. So they might even be OEM from Eldor.

I am running a full set of NGK coils from rock auto with no issues. I installed them myself and didn't notice any difference.

Yeah that's what I figured, and why I'm thinking they must have sent the wrong part. I don't want to jump to conclusions and assume the shop is trying to take advantage in some way. These guys are reputable and know what they're doing. I should've just had them diagnose and done the work myself.

Running NGK coils from rockauto as well. No issues whatsoever. They even have the BMW logo.
