S1AKA fuel filter - would it prevent the injectors from sticking? How to install it?
Hi guys
After losing my engine because of [mainly suspected to be] some consequences of having a stuck open injector two years ago, and knowing that we don't have serviceable fuel filters, I'd like to try this in the new engine. What you guys think of installing the filter called by BMW as S1AKA? https://www.ebay.com/itm/38364281375...LK|clp:2334524 And it appears in the TIS as optional for some regions, where fuel may have bad quality, I guess. It needs to allow the flow needed, that I don't know what it is, but the E92 M3 is in the list of vehicles it fits. Also, we'd need to know if the third connector of the filter is a pressure relief, and if the pressure setpoint will be enough for the S65. Maybe we could neutralize it by blocking that third connector. |

US bmws of the 90s had those filters, I remember replacing it on my E39's back in the day.
If you think fuel quality is an issue then you can definitely install a fuel filter like that. There is space for it under the car under the left hand side driver seat. You can cut the main fuel line running from the front to rear and put it in between use the crimp style clamps, the filter you linked in the original post is incorrect for the application as it has a return on it also hence the two connections per side. You may wanna consider something aftermarket here like from aem or aeromotive all you'll is AN to straight barb fitting connections on it. Look at the attachment youll see the space available

Excellent, mate. The only reason I thought on that filter was because I know it's capable of handling the pressure and flow, as it appears on original TIS. The only problem is the return line.
What if I put some other filter and there is not enough flow, or the pressure break out anything in the filter? |
