Hello, 2 months ago I blew my diff and ended up replacing that alongside my left rear axle and driveshaft. Both parts are damaged, however would make great cores to send out if you are looking to upgrade axles (DSS) or fix your clunky driveshaft. Driveshaft specialist in Texas has a great reputation in the BMW community for refurbishing driveshafts and adding a serviceable U-joint so that in the future the driveshaft can be repaired rather than having to completely replace it. They offer this service for $460 (including shipping both ways) when I inquired. This is cheaper than buying a questionable aftermarket driveshaft, and FAR cheaper than an OEM driveshaft ($1700+). The turnaround time with them is 8-10 days from when you ship it out. If you want to upgrade to DSS axles, you are required to send both your axles in, meaning your car is off the road for a while. Pick up a right rear axle as well and you can send both out to DSS while still enjoying your car in the meantime. Also, BMW has discontinued the left rear axle, and it is now special order from Germany for over $1300 with no ETA given. I called BMW dealers all over the states trying to track this part down, and none could get it to me. Upgrading both axles to DSS is cheaper than buying this ONE OEM axle ![]() I had my car towed to my shop and ultimately went with an OEM driveshaft and an axle off a wrecked M3 due to the shop I was at not being able to pull the parts out for me to ship out as the car would be sitting on a lift for 2 months waiting for the differential. If I had been able to send these cores out, I would've saved a good chunk of money AND have upgraded axles. Hopefully this can help you guys save some money. Both parts are safely boxed and wrapped up, ready to ship out. I can remove for pictures if needed. Located in NoVa (20120) and able to meet-up within a reasonable distance, or ship if you cover shipping costs. Driveshaft: $300 OBO Left rear axle: $250 OBO |

part number for the axle: 33212283455
Note: you may see some retailers offering this online, even including a ship date. Call them and they'll tell you it's NLA. Went through this with turner, ECS, and a myriad of BMW dealerships. part number for driveshaft (6MT): 26102283660 |
