Well let's see I tend to keep my cars longer than the average. So I have my 1M for 10 years and 2 months now and my 328d for 6 years and 9 months.

My e53 X5 is 17 years and 3 months. My Z4M coupe just turned 11 years with me. Like BimmerMat, I usually keep my cars for a while - usually average about 10 years. But the X5 for some reason, has stayed with me the longest of all my cars.

I actually know more than a dozen folks who have more than 50 years with the same Bimmer, as original owners of BMW Bavaria’s, Neu Klassse 2000s, 1600s & 2002s…. Not hard if you’re in the CCA or VCCA.

I’ve owned my own ‘76 2002 since 1998 (3rd owner). So 23 years. I’ll have it til I’m 6 feet under…

Tom

I have owned BMWs since 1971. I usually keep my car about 10 years. I usually find that they become too unreliable to keep as a daily driver after that.

My E89 is still going strong after 11 years/260,000kms (or ~160,000 miles) and counting (knock wood). I don't like to change cars outta nowhere and keep them as long as they last.

E90 stayed in my family 11 yrs. Total joy to drive, but hobbled its way to 75k miles. Massive headache to keep running, sold it to a buddy of mine.

Parents bought a '95 E36 325i brand new in '94. Now I have it and I'm planning on passing it down to one of my boys. It's not an M3, but it does have sentimental value and I'm keeping it as clean as possible.

Loll he's one of my best friends. I warned him but he still wanted it. He lives nearby so I still see the car all the time. Surprisingly enough he's had it 1 yr now without issues.

It only has approximately 150k miles with the majority of the mileage put on the first 13 years. The last 4 years only accumulated about 10k miles since it's relegated to mostly Costco and Home Depot runs

We both got our Z4 just about the same time! Your car sat on the lot for almost a years before it got sold to the first owner???

Mine are:
-Build date: Mar 2008
-1st owner: May 2008 - May 2010 (2 years)
-2nd owner (me): June 2010 - present
-Miles by first owner: 0 - 7,800 or appx 3,900 miles annually
-Miles by me: 7,800 - 64,800 or appx 5,200 miles annually

Annual Blackstone Oil Analysis lead me to change out my rod bearings at approx. 54k.

My daily driver: 2001 E46 330i, build date June 2000, currently at 148k miles. Changed oil every 5k miles, engine still strong.

A buddy and I did all the work on the usual E46 issues such as OFHG, vanos, leaky oil pan gasket, cooling system, and all the other problems that goes with owning a M54 engine. It's definitely a love/hate relationship.
