Question: idle control valve replacement

Hi Everyone,

I am setting up to do throttle actuators and the idle control valve when I have the plenum off to install a supercharger. I see there is a hose that goes along with the IDC for about $150. When I did the fuel tank breather valve I didn't buy the accompanying hose and ended up regretting it.

Has anyone who has done this DIY found buying a new hose helpful or necessary? Search didn't find a description posted.

Cheers - Kevin

If you are talking about the hose from ICV to back of plenum. I replaced that during my ICV surgery. Figured why not as it could be another potential source of air leaks? Also when the ICV was out I used a camera to peak inside the air strips for any signs of flaking/clogging.

that hose generally doesnt seat properly into the icv and depending who has worked on your car the locking clips are probably broken at the upper connection. IMO its worth changing.

Wish they'd make that hose 2" longer fit the sake of removing some of the tension.

^agree. just a tad longer will be so much easier to remove that plenum.
