Gen III/IV Viper vs M3

Does anyone have any experience with both a Gen III/IV Viper and an e92 M3?

I have gotten more into track driving and the M3 needs some upgrades to support track driving. I look at all the upgrades with new wheels, big brakes, various arms/bushing, coil overs, cat delete, tune, roll cage, race seats, etc., and wonder if I would be better off just getting a Viper.

The Viper appears to be more unique/rare, raw, low maintenance, and higher tuning potential. If I wen twitch a Gen III I do know I would have to buy a cage for track use which isn’t too big of a deal.
