ICV Repair - Why ICV fail ?

Hello guys,

After chasing a couple of issues with my 2007 E92 and replacing a bunch of ageing parts I think it's time to now take care of the ICV .

Symptoms :

Limp home mode on some starts
Limp home mode sometimes when slowing down

Code 2B0D + Misfires codes

I just fixed the TAs with gears from rebuild.org.uk, this fixed my 5E19 error( they where already replaced but not upgraded )

Before completely replacing the ICV I wanted to gather infos on what goes wrong with them.
It seems that everyone will sooner or later have the issue, would make sense to be able to fix them.

Mine still moves, INPA can read it's postion and move it, but I haven't checked that the postion read corresponds to the real postion of the butterfly.

Any ideas ?

Can't say why it fails exactly but have you looked into the fuel breather valve? I was told main symptom was stalling after fill up. Mine never did that but it still winded being faulty.

I haven't any codes for the fuel breather, only for the ICV, but this doesn't mean that the ICV code could not be a false positive yes the real culprit could be the breather valve.

It would be great to pinpoint what triggers the 2B0D, I'll try to see if the MSS60 doc is of any help for this.

In the mean time, I ordered a cheap replacement ICV from a 2012 which will hopefully fix the issue. Once the replacement one installed I'll take apart the faulty one.
