Just had a set of valve covers powder coated in a beautiful new metallic blue color and have several pounds of base color and clear available.

If anyone would like to purchase a set I am willing to coat my spare valve covers in the color of your choice.

The original valve covers from my 2011 E92 Coupe are currently being stripped and prepped. If someone would like to purchase a valve cover set and have them coated in a specific color please let me know. Red and black seem to be popular and there are already covers available for purchase in these colors.

If anyone is thinking of powder coating covers while replacing their valve cover gaskets this is a great opportunity to do it rather inexpensively.

*** As a one time opportunity I will coat and ship someone a set of valve covers coated in the color of their choice for $850.00 USD.

*** If the buyer would like to return to me a set of undamaged (meaning not cracked, chipped or warped) valve covers I will refund $500.00 and can then offer this service to another forum member.

Just to be clear I am not operating a business nor am I making any profit. I am only capable of offering this opportunity to another forum member because I purchased a spare set of valve covers in advance of replacing my gaskets.

I can have a set powder coated in just about any color that you would like. You can either purchase a new pair of covers or find a good set of donor covers as I have done and ship them to me.

I purchase powder from www.prismaticpowders.com. They have over 6000 colors and will send you up to 5 color samples for around $7.00 shipping.

It cost me around $350 to have the OE covers chemically stripped and coated. I believe that the parts are sprayed and baked around 3 to 4 times during the prep, sealer, color and clear coat application process.

To be clear if you want to purchase my extra set outright it would cost $850 shipped inside the US. This is my total cost to purchase a good set of used covers and have them stripped, prepped and coated.

If you would like to send me a set of covers to be coated the cost would be $350 to return them to you in the color of your choice.

If the shop has to special order the powder color for you there may be an additional charge. The 3 lb bag of metallic blue I bought cost around $70 shipped to my address.

My suggestion to return a core set of covers would enable me to provide this service to other members without requiring their car to be down for an extended period of time. Just like other vendors I would ship you a coated set for $850 and when you return a serviceable valve cover set (castings are not cracked, warped or chipped) to me I refund you $500.

Nice work man, I also do this on the side and have sold them for $750 in the past. Its a hard sell as everyone wants to send you cores. But I have had some cores come in warped and has bitten me in the butt more than 1 time. IND sells them for $1220 plus shipping for a set of used powdercoated covers. Never in stock as its hard to find clean sets. Its more of a service and way you are not waiting to have a set of covers coated and returned. The job can be done that day in a matter of hours having a good set ready to go.

Thanks man! I installed the powder coated covers last week and they look awesome.

I agree that your price of $750 is a good number for a set of coated covers based on what it has cost me to purchase a good used set and coat them.

Not really looking to make a business out of this, just trying to help some other people out by saving them from having to purchase a used set in advance.

I hope that I don't receive a warped or cracked set as a core exchange but imagine someone will eventually try to screw me. It just seems like human nature these days for some people to take advantage whenever they can.

currently waiting to hear back from a local shop, they dont seem very interested in the job though.

i bought a used set of VC just to have coated without any downtime. looking to have mine done in Roundel blue.

Love the blue color as it would match my Le Mans Blue exterior. But, I think my wife would beat my ass if I grab a set right now.

The color blue which I had mine done is a close match to the Indigo Blau Metallic of the roundel. I ordered 5-6 samples of blue from Prismatic Powders to find the closest match.

im almost positive the bmw roundel blue is not metallic.

I stand corrected and I believe that you are right.

Thinking back I matched this powder coat color to the blue paint found on the HP2S motorcycle. I have incorporated the BMW Indigo Blue Metallic on both of my BMW motorcycles.
