Replace DCT mechatronic sealing sleeve?

So my car is at the dealer for an oil change and the service advisor just emailed me to say that there is a DCT leak that needs to be fixed. Last year, they pointed out that there was a leak in the DCT but that it wasn't too bad. They didn't do a close enough inspection at the time to determine if it was a crack in the pan or if the gasket was the problem. I have never seen any fluid dripped on the garage floor under the car. I decided then to wait to see if the leak got worse. Now they have done a close inspection and have advised that the mechatronic sealing sleeve (?) must be replaced. This requires that the transmission be removed from the car to access the sleeve. I don't even know what a sealing sleeve is. The estimated cost to replace this $60 part is $3,800 WTF!!! Unfortunately there is no local indy shop that I trust as far as getting into the internals of the engine/transmission. Kind of shocked that after expecting a $200 bill, that I might have to come up with $4,000+.

Anybody know what a mechatronic sealing sleeve is? is it important? what would happen if I don't get it fixed.

Im getting mines done next week for $250. Dont pay that much. They dont need to fully drop the transmission. Just enough so you can reach up there

I performed that DIY recently.
It was pretty tough as you need to replace it using one hand pretty much blindly.
But it is definitely doable.
