Hey Guys
I was in a rear end collision that resulted in replacing my bumper along with rebar. However my Oil Temperature gauge stop working which is really weird. Insurence is giving me a hard time to prove the correlation but any input would be greatly appreciated. I'm guessing it's the sensor. Prior to the accident the speedometer, gas level etc were not calibrated correctly but still provided a reading. Everything else works on the cluster. No CEL light Thanks |

Doubt it's the sensor. Does the variable redline still operate? You can see temps from the OBD to verify.
Who installed the gauge faces? That's the red flag right there.

It was from a reputable person. My car battery died in the process so I was supposed to go back to get it calibrated but didn't have the chance to because of Covid etc. But the readings worked for sometime though not accurate due to the calibration.
I will try your method today Thanks for your help !!! |

That sucks man. Yeah.. I would talk this person. See if he can pull the needles off, zero them out, and put the needle back on.
Is there a slight gap between the needle and the face gauge? There should be. A gap big enough to maybe slide a business card under. The servo turning the needle us not very powerful and if it's to tight, it would get stuck (or would be jumpy). Pushing the needle on too hard could damage the gears too.. Hopefully that's not the case.
