Built Diff...
Going to finally bite the bullet and get a custom built diff. Car is rarely driven on the street which means, it's a track car.
So, who suggests what? Car is DCT, I run 285 slicks square, full aero, MCS 3 ways, 900lb front and 1200lb rear springs. |

driftflo is definitely a great guy. He is very knowledgeable.
Ultimately, for my timeline, I ended up going with OS Giken Superlock with a custom setup by the OS Giken guys in Torrance, CA. Been happy with it. It's been on the car since the end of 2015 and has worked without issue.

Just got a quote from Bimmerworld, but for the fella's that chimed In to this post earlier..
How does this look from Bimmerworld? "a 3.45, 3 clutch/custom ramps, with REM on the ring and pinion" |

What custom ramping numbers did they recommend?

If you're going to go with Diffsonline (Dan makes great diffs btw), I'd recommend going with the race carrier. I believe he does a 8-clutch unit with ramping of your choice. This would be similar to a drexler diff from driftflo.

If you're curious how the 3.62 gearing is Youtube any of the Team Schirmer E92 cars, or Jangobipbip (he has one of the more well known Schirmer cars). They always build DCT cars and if I recall correctly, 3.62 is their gearing of choice.

I'm sure the race carrier diffs from diffsonline are also very good, but compared to the 3-clutch one I had before the drexler was a huge upgrade. All the Schrimer cars use Drexler diffs, all the factory built GT4's came with drexler diffs. The drexler unit you get from driftflo is quite similar to what BMW ran in the GT4 and Z4 GT3 cars. He can get you whatever final drive ratio you want, and has multiple ramp angle choices to fine tune how much lock you'd prefer. |

In car view with a driftflo drexler build w/3.62 FD. Assembly was done Syncro Design Works & coding through Oliver @ oemotors.de. Very happy with the performance & no issue recommending them.
*This was my first time on track with the car at this build level with the engine gremlins worked out - the laps are pretty scruffy as I'm trying to find the limits & working with a completely unsorted suspension setup - but can maybe help show a bit of the diff & 3.62 in action. |

Now what was needed for the ECU? Any programming? Sorry everyone for all the questions but this is all new to me. I'm at the limit with my car and I told myself years ago that eventually I would do a build diff once I met the limits ..well..now is that time. |

And just got an email back from Bimmerworld..
The ramp angles are all predetermined actually. They are ones that were setup by James back when we started our partnership with Diffsonline. It is proprietary to us. The race carrier is badass to say the least. It is actually a 10 clutch, not an 8 clutch. In the case of differentials, more, actually does equate to better. Like Phil said earlier, heat is what kills differentials. The more clutches you have, the more the heat can be spread and dissipated. This is pretty much the biggest, baddest differential I feel you could get your hands on. Let me know if you want me to change the estimate over to the race carrier so we can price that out. |

I'd find it hard not to go with whatever James & Phil cooked up with Dan
I'm concerned about the 3.62 though. With a 285/30 tire which I want to run, with a 8400 redline top speed is limited to 152. That is way too slow for the Big Boy tracks. It's so odd the Schrimer cars run such a short diff in what is probably the biggest big boy track on the planet 3.45 takes my max speed down to 174... more manageable. As far as coding for the 3.62, Alex@Alpine is able to do it even if you have some else's tune, so that would be my path. |

One of the big things that sold me on going this route was the success they have had with these setups. Florian directed me to Oliver for the coding & David @ Syncro for the assembly. Knowing they had familiarity with his diffs and have worked out the coding for the 3.62 really helped. The other units might be as good or better - no experience with them so not sure - but can say that I am very happy with my setup. Absolutely fire away with any other questions - that's what we are all here for. And driftflo is very helpful - check out his diff thread if you haven't already & he's great and answering questions. |

285/30 is the widest that fits and you need the lower aspect ratio. If it were 285/35 it would be too tall. a max speed of 152 sounds really low what tires are you running?

But if top speed is an issue just get a lower final drive. Bigger diameter tire is just a work around and can be effective. |

275/35 fits perfectly. 285/30 R1 is super wide and requires fender liners to be removed. We'll see how that part works out. I don't want a 3.45, it kind of feels like what's the point then. But a top speed of 152... WGI and VIR both pass that today |

Is the coding just for the dct? I never had any coding done for mine... I just slapped it on there OSG custom build with 4.10 6mt. It's awesome.
