Not ready codes and tunes
I wanted to give some advice for people that are having trouble with passing emissions in their state with test pipes and a tune. I looked around on this site and saw a lot of questions about can you pass an inspection with a tune and track pipes. I was on the verge of buying an OEM X pipe to pass.
Here is what I learned. 1. You shouldn't be able to pass an inspection in a state that allows one "not ready" if you have a test pipes and a tune. You will get a Catalyst not ready and O2 Sensors not ready. 2. For some reason I was passing in the past with one "not ready" because my Catalyst was showing ready. 3. The best way to pass is to install O2 extensions with mini cats on the rear O2 sensors and go back to an OEM tune. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1 4. Do a complete drive cycle on the car following the instructions closely 5. I used the Torque ap in conjunction with a WiFI OBD II reader to tell me when I had achieved readiness. Worked like a charm on the first try the car passed with "Ready' on all parameters. I got the O2 Extensions off of Amazon for $49 bucks, way cheaper than buying a catted X pipe or a used X pipe and required no change out. I will flash it back now that it has passed and I plan to leave the extensions on for the next time I have an inspection due. Hope this helps others. |
