Item Interest
Vibra-Technics Engine Mounts. These are brand new, never installed parts. The mounts are a significant upgrade to stock, but all rubber is susceptible to degradation from heat. So two M3 E46 engine mount heat shields are included.

The mounts are $325 new and the heat shields are $25 new. Buyer pays shipping costs.

https://www.vibra-technics.com/bmw/e...t_engine_mount

The original equipment engine mounts are designed to give a soft, comfortable ride in road car applications. This results in excessive engine movement which affects gear selection, cornering and braking when the car is driven on the track.

Vibra-Technics have created this mount to give the “sporty” feel back to M3. It is ideal for track day cars or drivers who want a race car feel to their road car.

The engine mount has a billet machined housing and a rubber insulator at its core. It is completely fail-safe making it ideal for competition car applications.

Interesting. How do those E46 shields work? Do they fit E9x without modifications?

There is no modification to car or engine mount. The positioning tab on the heat shield that is next to the hole in the center just needs to be flattened. You can push it over with a screwdriver and then tap it with a hammer. Once that is done, just put the heat shield on the top of the mount, rotate it towards the exhaust, and then torque the mounting nut. The positioning tab is a convenience feature for OEM installation. The shield held in place by the compression forces between the engine mount and the bracket the mount is attached to.

I know this thread is super old but where did you order the mounts from and how long did it take to receive them? Thank you

You may want to reconsider these.

Thanks for the link! I have been on the fence about these due to seeing some of these failures and horror stories.it sucks because the majority of people who I've reached out to on the forum speak highly of them and had no issues.

But then there are a couple threads that really make them seem like a nightmare. With how many positive experiences I've heard I figured maybe I'll give them a try and take the risk - from everything I've read these have had the least amount of added NVH and this currently would be on my DD.

I am torn (no pun intended) - as mentioned I have read the horror stories, but have also heard twice as many positive things from other people that've had them.

I was on the fence about them too, but decided to just go with oem for now. If you do go with them, definitely consider the heat shields as well. Most that I found were in the UK, and very pricey, another reason I went oem. Good luck!

Will do, I appreciate the heads up for sure. I have the maintenance scheduled for April 1st so if I can't find a brand new set of VT's at a good price before then, I will be going with new OEM. And from what I've found so far it seems like I'll just be going with OEM, nothin wrong with that tho!

I'm the guy who had issues with the VT mounts. For my next set of mounts I plan to add the E46 heat shields AND build a heat sleeve around the mount using some cheap insulated heat sleeve:

https://a.aliexpress.com/_m0R1vsx

Just cut it to correct length and height and tie the ends with cable tie to create a circular heat jacket around the mount. It's soft enough not to impede movement of the mount. Might make it more difficult to eyeball any mount failure in the future, but should protect the mount from heat. Good luck.
