You mean the GTS tune?
I believe Alex @ AlpineMSS is able to do it remotely Last edited by cplagz; 01-15-2019 at 07:06 PM.. |

This is the same process that e90 335i dct users use, as well as alpina auto tunes. You can diy for free. Ive done it myself and for others in the past. It's straightforward

Just came across a group buy for Alex's tune (https://www.m3post.com/forums/showth...6#post24428766), have put in my interest to see if I can join that for the Stage 2 tune and do it myself.

I've read that if the car always start in D2 then the DCT tune has already been flashed? Mine does that. I've only owned it for 2 months and it came with full Akrapovic exhaust so not sure what the previous owner flashed it with as I purchased it from a dealer.

Thanks to Aus335iguy, I managed to do it myself by reading up a couple of other threads. Here are the steps I followed:
Grab the BMW standard tools/files from: https://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1204192 Get latest SP-Daten files from: To check part numbers: https://www.e90post.com/forums/showt...8#post18933848 (step 5) Set up WINKFP options like so: To check your DCT flash history:
To flash GTS DCT: https://www.m3post.com/forums/showpo...02&postcount=3 (select 7848442 instead of 7845773 to flash latest version) My HW-NR was 7642021 and it flashed to 7848442 without problems. My DCT flash history showed it was last flashed in 2015 (likely by BMW dealer) and my ECU was updated to E89X-14-11-501. I also had my 5A CTEK battery charger plugged in to be safe as my battery is still from factory (dated week 42, 2010) and I'm in the process of replacing it. Haven't noticed much difference so far apart from maybe snappier gear changes. I still bought the Alpine stage 2 tune for other goodies ;-) Inc cold start delete, firmer steering, speed limiter delete and fuel mapping / tunes

I think I found another difference. Every since flashing the GTS DCT I've lost my stop-start lol at lights engine turns off for less than a second before turning back on and in neutral. Is there coding I can do to disable stop-start? prefer not to press the button each time I want to start the car to disable it for the journey. Otherwise I'll flash back to stock DCT
edit: I'll get Alpine to provide me with a tune with it disabled, that should be possible I think. Last edited by Fezza; 03-07-2019 at 06:28 AM.. |

did more searching and found I can code it by changing MSA_MEMORY in module IHK for it to remember the switch setting.

Most coding and flashing of modules can be done for free with little effort and research.

but one quick question though. When I wanted to read out flash history [*]Choose Zusb[*]Select GS40 there is no pop up asking for vin, also the select GS40 part ended up with a whole list to select with. Not sure where I got it wrong. Long story short. My car starts in D2. I wanted to check if the previous owner has had GTS tune or not so I can plan accordingly. The catch is, the DCT is not the original, previous owner had it replaced for mechatronics failure. thanks in advance |

Try doing it this way: You can display the part numbers of all installed modules (and lots of other useful information) with INPA...E90 -> Select E90 -> Functional Jobs -> <F2> Identification Source: https://www.e90post.com/forums/showp...48&postcount=2 (#5). The other method source is: https://www.e90post.com/forums/showp...9&postcount=48 so maybe check with the guy about your history issue. But if the previous flash was done without UIF options then the history wouldn't have been recorded anyway. Also is there a GS40 entry after "Select GS40"? Can't remember if it asked me for VIN, if not I must've selected something else from the list after "Select GS40". Last edited by Fezza; 12-02-2019 at 01:11 AM.. |
