Test pipe install problem HELP

Hey guys,

So today a buddy and I attempted the install of the test pipes from Evolve tuning... but we ran into a little bit of a problem. Yesterday I cut out the cats but I didn't have enough time to install the new pipes before the shop I was working at was closing. So I thought, no big deal. I can finish tomorrow and just drive home with open headers, very conservatively. I only live about 3 miles from the shop and I thought the worst that could happen is I piss off the neighbors.

So, I button up all the bolts, screws, etc and everything else that I had removed so that the only hardware pieces I had left were the 4 bolts and nuts that connect the headers to the Xpipe next to where the cats used to be. Everything was snug and the X pipe was tightly in place, just a section missing from where I cut out the headers.

I get back to the shop today and we start the install. The right pipe went on fine and we got it to the left...... and there was no where to bolt in the test pipe... on the right pipe, just like any other exhaust, it was just 2 bolts that go between the pipes. but on the left, there was no holes or anything to bolt into. Just a pipe. The thing that baffles me is that when I removed the x pipe, I know there was something to bolt into because I have the bolts for it. On the other side, there isn't any way for that part of the pipe to come off which is why I am so confused. It's not like it can just fall off.

Sounds like your flange and gasket fell off while you were driving. They are only held in by friction.

Can't seem to find a part number for that flange. You might try asking Turner or the manufacturer of your test pipes as I believe the flange included on those are the same or at least made to the same spec.

I just did an x pipe install. Here is a link to the common torque values thread. I'll post some pics. See if you can find the part number for that flange, bc it is welded on one side and the other side it slide back and forth a bit on the header.

Check some parts sites.

From the exhaust system pic, you need part number 2 (need 2 of them... fire gaskets.) that was posted by previous poster.

Then check for part number for that flange.

yeah the drivers side flange is not welded on like the right side, have no idea why but this baffled me when i was installing my X-pipe...
