Bimmerworld x-pipe scraping on ground, anyone else have this issue?

Hey guys,

Ive recently noticed that part of my Bimmerworld x-pipe has been scraping from the ground but Im not sure when it happened as Im usually very careful getting in and out of driveways and/or over speed bumps. Car is lowered on coilovers but isn't slammed, just a bit lower than stock, closing the wheel gap. Do some of you guys have this issue with your aftermarket x-pipe? I believe it's happening close to the front of the car, or close to where the primary cats would be.. I know this probably wouldnt affect performance but am a bit concerned about the pipe scraping on multiple occasions over time. Any insight would be much appreciated, thanks

Is it sloped down from back to front? You may have put it on upside down?. I initially did this with the ess pipe and had to turn it over.

Hey, no it slopes down from front of the car to back.. the pipe evens out?

Odd, I have the same pipe as you now and dont have any issues. Given that you are scraping at the front I would think you either put it on upside down or didn't push the pipe into the manifolds enough so that it sits more flush against the body.

It is easy to put in upside down as there are no instructions for which side goes up.

Hmm, I feel like my x-pipe is low and has scraped going over speed bumps and now I'm worried I installed mine upside down...but I swear I looked at it with a buddy and there was no other way to install it.

Might have to double check.

You should be pretty flush like in the picture below. When the pipe is upside down, it makes the cross section sit too low to the ground and has a slope to it from front to rear.

Im pretty sure mine is flush like that... The driver side pipe that is scraping is the one going up to the headers..

yeah no scrapping here.

I had a scrapping problem with the AA with Cats. As the Cats sat lower than the car.

Reviving a very dated thread as I am having this scraping issue now and thought I'd see if there is any new info. Just the test pipe section scraping and I'm on Swift Spec-R springs.

I double checked that my x-pipe is correct and it looks exactly like this photo with the resonator lettering "MF" right side up and "Magnaflow" below it. It would be easy to tell if the x-pipe was upside down since the resonator lettering would be as well.

Assuming the photo is actually right side up, the short sections forward of the "X" just before the test pipe section connects, slope downward. If the x-pipe was flipped upside down, those short sections would be facing upward. Wouldn't that raise the test pipes up higher or would it not fit correctly? I would assume the two rectangular brackets forward of the resonators would not bolt correctly either since they are at the "top" of the x-pipe in the photo.

I'm out of ideas other than getting the car up on a lift and seeing if somehow the test pipe sections are just sagging.

engine mount could be shot, so the engine could be sitting lower.

Good point! I have the BW engine mounts that sit 5mm lower and their x-pipe and have never scraped the exhaust, I'm lowered on swift springs.
