We are so fortunate to drive these cars - and a question about black wheels

These Ms are just absolute beasts. I was coming to a stop ripping S5 downshifts earlier, realizing how lucky I am to daily drive such a fun, amazing car. Such great materials in the interior, soft leather, great sound system, wood accents and everything just makes for a perfect car.

It's the little things in life that are so much fun. Every time I wind out the V8 it just puts the fattest smile on my face.

Life is good!

Enjoy in good health everyone.

Now to a quick question - my car is AW and I want to add some black flair. Possibly carbon spoiler, front splitter and some black kidney grills. But I'm caught up on wheels.

Any recommendations for good aftermarket ZCP wheels in black? I want exact OEM look without paying the OEM price.

I am just so stoked on this car. Thank you!

I would get some used ZCP wheels and have them refinished or some Apex EC-7’s

I'm not sure what wheels you have, but I can't get enough of the look of my 220m's powder coated gloss black with spacers. I get complements all the time with people asking me what kind of wheels they are. I really would only go with the OEM 359m's because I believe, like the 220m's, they are forged from the factory. Aftermarkets look-alike's are mostly cast, therefore not nearly as strong. Lots of posts on here of cracked knock-offs. I can't imagine having a wheel come apart on me...

Stock 220's are awesome, but they're not ideal, if one wanted to go wider.

If you are going to replace your wheels with something other than stock there are 2 considerations. First is going to be mass. Bigger wheels are heavier, so use of lightweight materials is important. Assuming you are unwilling or unable to swing the expense of custom-made carbon fiber wheels you are looking at magnesium or other alloy. That brings us to the second consideration which is manner of construction. Forged is always better than cast.

OEM 18? (219M) are cast and the OEM ZCP wheels are also cast.

Only the 220M wheels are fully forged.

We are extremely fortunate to drive these!

I would go with the AG 359s in black. They're good replicas

OEM M359's are usually floating around in the for sale section, give it a look. I would go for painting or plasti dip if you want them black, then a good ceramic coating to protect them.

+1 I have AG's on my AW ///M and love it!! Offset is perfect up front and a 12.5mm spacer in the rear flushes everything out

Find used OEM ZCP (359) wheels and have them refinished. No need for spacers in my opinion -- they sit nicely in the wheel wells already.

I currently have ZCP wheels - would be better to have them powder coated? I just heard its almost a grand for powder coating, and new wheels can be had for like $1500.

Not sure.

Not sure.

$1000 seems pretty high for powdercoating four wheels black, but I've never seriously priced it out. I remember having two of my ZCP wheels repaired (curb rash) and then stripped and refinished to OEM hypersilver for less than $250/wheel.

Thanx!! Cant wait to see yours once you get it set-up. You should post some B4s!

And if you can get OEM ZCP's in Black they are much lighter than the AG's, just more $

I thought BMW ZCPs and AG359 weigh the same. Where did you get the info BMW ZCPs weight less?

I recommend getting black AG359s and use the savings for tires, test pipes or supercharger.

Correct me if I wrong but I think the OEM ZCP's are forged and the AG's are cast.

And +1 for saving your $ for other mods, I went this route
