Let the '08 e92 m3 sit for the winter now getting limp mode & plenty of codes after maybe 5 min of driving. Car has aftermarket exhaust with 1 of the cats deleted and an Evolve tune. Codes from Carly below. Would love any help, thanks

If the last two come back after clearing, new throttle actuator is in your future.
I'm becoming convinced m3 TAs are like the Xbox360 red ring of death problem. The failure rate if ever truly known has gotta be pretty high. It's like a wear item. |

Thanks for the insight. So I cleared the codes last night, then drove about a mile and went back to limp. Drove about 25 miles in limp mode, stopped for a while, cleared codes again and drove back the 25 miles...no limp, no codes. Do these things fail slowly or could it be electrical? I did let the car sit about 3 months w/o a battery tender. Thanks!

engine in limp mode
Hi everyone i need help or just so some simple feedback to my problem. I have a 08 e92 m3 that is in limp mode, reduced power increased emmisions and low washer fluid is what i get when i start the car. it runs half power. like shit. and i ran the codes and it says misfire on cylinder 5-6-7-8 so bank 2 pretty much and low fuel which i do have low fuil but still. I originally thought it was bad cats so i replaced does. Didn't fix anything, than i changed spark plugs and checked coils, they are fine. i don't know what to do next any ideas? And im new to m3post how do i make a new thread?

Would first check battery/charging system and alternator. Then clear codes after all is verified ok, and see what comes back.
Looks like you might need a throttle actuator but could be caused by low voltage from the car sitting. |
