Increased Emissions

Hello All,

Last week while driving, I get the following messages:

Fuel Pump Malfunction.
Engine Malfunction! Reduced Power
DSC Malfunction! Drive carefully
DBC Malfunction! Drive carefully
Start-off assistance inactive!

I did a ton of research (thanks JupiterBMW and Debom3) and ordered the fuel pump sensor (pn 13537614317).
Fast forward. I install the sensor, and the good news it took care of all the previous codes, but now i get increased emissions, I pull the code and it p0191, fuel rail pressure sensor....

can anyone shed any light on this??

I had that about 66k miles. Easy to replace.

The correct sensor according to Realoem would have been 13537622231. Maybe it's updated? I'm not sure.

Not sure if this is your issue but there is a low pressure sensitive near the drivers side strut tower brace. I replaced mine a few years ago. There is also another sensor but I have not had an issue with it yet.

I looked up the part on fcp euro..it referenced both those numbers. . And pbon, that's the one I changed

Dave, yes....at least 3 times.the only other thing is 2231 vs 4317 parts, they look different. ..I am going to rob the car a few more days. ..and is there only one low fuel pressure sensor? I am reading from the description on fcp and see one from th he engine bay, and another from the tank...

Did you change your throttle acutators? Should do the trick.

rbuena, no I did not, at this point there is no reason to.

So some good news, I unplugged the connector for the sensor and cleaned it out.
I am going on 2 days with no check engine light...Keeping my fingers crossed..
If the check engine light comes back on, the next change is the EKP module.

On another note, in speaking to FCP (they were very helpful, not a plug, I did not order parts from them)

There are in fact two low fuel pressure sensors
1. Engine bay sensor is 13537614317
2. The one from the fuel tank is 13537622231
With the most common failure being the one in the engine bay.

Just a quick update, giving the connector a thorough cleaning and replacing the sensor did the trick, 1 full week and no check engine light..
