Question for DCT owners.

I had an SMG M3. When you would unlock the doors you could (barely) hear a whirring sound in the engine bay. I believe that was the oil pressure building up for the SMG. For some reason I thought this was really cool. Maybe because it was unique. Does the DCT do the same? Just curious.

yup...my E46 M3 with SMG II makes the same sound. It is the sound of the SMG pump. Outside, you barely hear the sound. In my enclosed garage, I can hear it more.

No, the DCT doesn't do that, at least not that I heard so far after 1 day of ownership.

Update, I walked out the garage and checked. No sound when opening the door. Or at least it wasn't loud enough to hear over my garage fridge.

Question: You lock your car in your garage?
