Engine mount advice.

Ok so got BE bearings and will be taking the car to the shop soon for the work. I hear everyone say do your mounts when you do the bearings. I had an ESS SC kit but recently sold to get the harrop kit. So car will be NA when job is done but will have the SC kit installed back around Jan or feb. What is a good reliable mount? Should I go aftermarket or stick oem? Since I drive the car hard and will be going back SC I figured aftermarket might hold better.

Also any other jobs the shop should do while they do the bearings?

On a side note, you should post a comparison of both superchargers in the Harrop thread once you get some good drive time with your new setup. To me, the driving experience is more important than the numbers.

I tried a set of rogue that I had, but the nvh bothered me so I changed to new stock. Probably the BW or vibra technique are the better choice for a street car. Has anyone tried AKG, Vorslag or Powerflex on a street E9xM3?

How is the NVH with Vibra-Technics?

I got the fast road. They are supposedly much less harsh than the race.

i have the vibra technics road going mounts. nothing but great things to say. they are great pieces. zero noise or vibration.

Another vote for Vibra-Technics...very quality pieces with little to no added NVH.

Another vote for Vibra-Technics mount here. Slight increase in vibration at idle/stop but no difference in nvh from what I can tell as soon as the car get moving. But the improvement in response and shift feel (for manual) is immediately noticeable. Highly recommended.

I've had the AKG motor mounts on for over 20k miles and no issues with them. Really well made. They're a very stiff Delrin like bushing so there will be some vibration in the cabin. Personally I don't mind it at all.

No personal experience yet, just a lot of research. I will install them when I replace my rod bearings.

Uh oh! I have the BW mounts enroute to me and my car is a purely street-going DD

Might have to swap them for the Vibra Technics if they don't settle after a thousand miles or two post-install.

I don't think the Vibras will be much better. Anything harder than stock will feel harder as well

Hey all - what are some symptoms of bad mounts? I feel like NVH is suddenly gotten worse, and shifts are very clunky on my DCT... I am at 29K, all stock minus DCT GTS Software.

I hear ya man. Looking forward to that kinda, just hoping the level of NVH increase is acceptable in relation to my tolerances.

It isn't horrible. I just drove 250 miles with them on the highway and you don't notice there, it's more a stop and go thing. Methinks raising idle to 900rpm will take care of most of it

People's definitions and tolerance of NVH vary wildly. I still remember riding in a full catless car with head-splitting drone everywhere whose owner proudly said was 'drone-free'...
