Is there any mod you did to your car that you regret?

Mods don't always come out as planned. What did you do that you regret doing?

I'll start by saying i put on the wrong exhaust once. It droned so bad, i took it off the next day (I did this twice btw). Next i put on a front splitters and it broke off after backing out my driveway. (Lasted 1 min)

The wrong meaning for the wrong car? or wrong meaning just bad exhaust/brand?

I bought black vinyl wrap and made all BMW roundel logos black/white(rims too). For a cheap vinyl it stayed on no matter what and I was impressed. As time went on, I kept seeing slight slithers of blue near the edge of the vinyl and it always irritated me so I just took them off.

OEM Exhaust Mod. I replaced all 4 perforated pipes with solid pipe and the sound was way too loud - there was a resonance that sounded like I didn't have a headliner and the whole roof was vibrating around 3,000rpm. I kept it for about 3 months and went back to stock. I think stock is too quiet, but my mod turned out to be way too loud. I'll probably try again and replace only two of the pipes if I ever come across another spare exhaust.

Similar. Exhaust systems for any BMW are very over-priced. (4k + for sound? really?!) so I just cut my mufflers out. Cost about $200 with some nice custom tips.

If it wasn't a daily at the time it would be alright, but the drone on the freeway was deafening.

sport x pipe (deleted secondaries) with an mxp exhaust. embarrassingly loud and sounded like shit. mxp by its self sounded pretty good, but i wanted something lighter weight.

For me it has to be the angel eye LED mod. the LED bulbs wouldn't last more than a few months. I sent them back the first time as they were still under warranty. The next set I received were worse in that they only lasted a few weeks before the lights burnt out again. Fed up, I took them out and went back to stock... No problems with the stock bulbs after a year since changing back.

Exhaust tinkering takes the cake.

I put on a perforated pipes covered method OEM modded exhaust for a day. Sounded dumb. Then I got an MPE. I blasted a couple cracks in it and it also sounded like a Mustang 5.0 to me.

Finally did it right and got an Akra slip on with CF tips. 6 months later I kept realizing how weak it sounded compared to my buddy's Akra Evo. Picked up Evo midpipes and now I can't imagine a better sounding non exotic car.

Other than that, I got an AA green filter but I want it out because those things don't stop nearly as much grit as the stock paper filter.

My mod list is otherwise impeccable and no regrets anywhere.

bought some cheap ebay grill air scoops (RPI brand I think?) I knew they were more for looks than anything else anyways but these things were total garbage. literally the quality of someone who took sheets of aluminum and made them himself in his garage and sprayed them with spray paint. Total waste of $50 as they were so flimsy and cheap they wouldn't even stay mounted in the car properly.

Springs.. should have just gone with coilovers since I eventually switched over to JRZs anyways (and I knew that was going to happen), but I wanted the lowered look right when I got the car!

Other than that...

Upgraded my speakers... they are sound so much better and I took the precaution of removing the door panels and putting them back on, but it introduced some squeaks that got annoying. Despite removing the door panels a couple times and trying to diagnose what the hell made the squeak, it's still there.

Lots of trial and error...using betalink on splitters/spoiler, a few droney exhausts. Biggest regret, although not a mod per se, going back to an e46 for awhile. Glad to be back in the e92 with an MPE and AA Green...best little mods there.

cheap led from a vendor on here. Most of them keep flashing, or plain just don't work randomly. Super annoying and waste of money.

I wanted a valved exhaust system, so I in installed the new Remus valvetronic mufflers last week (first e92 m3 with this system in AUSRALIA)... Valve closed sounds awesome, a little louder than what i expected but no drone. Open up valves and extremely loud and deeper tone. Droning between 1,500 and 2500 when taking off and droning at 80km/hr when cruising. Perfect after 90km/hr or keeping the revs up. So great with spirited driving..too loud for inner suburbs with valves open!!
Quality of Remus is great
