Can an existing key fob be reprogrammed to another car?

BMW dealers won't do it. Some independent shops and locksmiths with the right equipment can do this, although with a Comfort Access fob you will have more difficulty getting any of the CA features programmed in (generally requires a dealer and a $100 plus programming fee. If you call the BMW roadside service number they will explain all the details of factory fob replacement to you. Apparently, some number of fobs assigned to each car are kept in a location in the USA and can be overnight expressed to you if stranded without a key. They still require CA programming though.

I don't have comfort access. I bought the car and the dealer said it only had one key. I negotiated purchasing a new key through them at cost ($175) and last night found the extra key in the trunk. Wanted to see if i could sell one to someone who needs an extra key.

On the positive side, if you lose one, you still have 2
