Odd exhaust problem... Need help

Hi all,
I recently got a SC E90 2011 M3 which also has an active autowerke x-pipe with no cats and a dinan exhaust. Recently I noticed that when I drive in the rain the exhaust sound changes drastically and the sound is no longer smooth. It sounds like a headers leak or something like that... I've already inspected for loose bolts on the connections but all seems tight. The interesting part is that as soon as I transition out of he rain the sound goes back to normal.

Has anybody else noticed an issue like this?

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

This only happens in the rain? Can you replicate it at idle with a video maybe

water has to be getting inside that exhaust somehow IMO

The question is how if all the connections are tight? Are you suggesting that I should disconnect and re-connect them all?

Hi Andrew,
Yes this only happens during rain and while I'm on the move and in gear. The sound is mostly pronoun between 2k-3K RPM while I'm driving slow yet on high gear. Not sure if this is relevant but I have an Active Autowerke Level 2 SC which as you know the air filter by design has a direct connection to one of the hood scoops. Not sure if water is getting in there and is causing this....? I assume if that was the case though that would cause the MAS to throw some codes, yet I have none?

I'll try to capture it on a video one of these days ...

Our kit was designed for high water environments being in Miami after all. The vent you are talking about goes into the filter shield and around the filter so its impossible for water to get to the filter. When its dry that slot expels hot air from the filter area and it sucks from the bottom duct.


Since I have never heard of this situation before would it be possible to get a sound clip?
