Exhaust tip stick out more after warming up

M3 Performance exhaust. 2012 M3 E93.
When the exhaust was install cold. The tip are somewhat flushed with the curvature of the rear bumper.

After driving 20 minutes...warmed up, the exhaust tip stick out about 3-4mm (millimeter). Its no longer flush with the rear bumper cover.

Is this normal?
If you installed the exhaust/adjust exhaust when hot....and make it flush with bumper cover, it will recede inward when it cools down. That means you dont see much of the exhaust when look straight down from the top

Vice Versa

What is the correct position of the exhaust when hot and cold/

Thanks

This is normal. If you view the exhaust from underneath, you'll notice the system sits on hinges to accommodate the heat expansion. I believe the bushings are red in color, you can see them without a lift.

I wondered the same thing when my car was new.
