ESS BPV vent to atmosphere
While there are several threads discussing venting the BPV to atmosphere for ESS kits, I could not find any photos that show how it's done. Apologize in advanced if it's been shown before and I missed it.
Yes, I know it's very easy to do and I'm probably dumb for asking, but just wanted to make sure as I definitely don't want to take any risks on the supercharger setup. Is it as simple as removing the L-shaped tube from the BPV to S/C and capping off intake to S/C? See attached photo. Just wanted to try it out and see how it sounds (I have a feeling I won't like it, but who knows until you try). |

That pic shows the relief valve venting to the atmospher. The valve wont suck in dirt, its one way. Howver, you have to cap the hole in the intake, because you will suck in dirt from that spot.

I tried this just for shits and giggles and I think it sounds terrible. There aren't any cool noises just a constant air leak sound.

you can clearly see that this valve is still plumbed into the intake setup?? thats just the normal sound the VorTech recirc valves makes at idle with quick throttle inputs.

Here's an exhaust clip from the same car. A normal ESS S/C'er doesn't sound like that I assure you.. |

That whorling sound... is horrible to me atleast. Does not sound like a normal BOV at all.

the initial video clip CLEARLY shows the BPV plumbed back to the s/c intake.... the video doesn't lie? you can clearly see it connected up. mines makes more muted noise but similar to above.

My car sounded like that when my bpv wasn't connected correctly, it would make that fluttering noise under load, I was losing boost. Connected correctly and the noise went away.

I believe there is a big difference with the open bpv on a manual vs DCT. The DCT would have more of a constant air leak sound.
