Head porting
I did a search and see nothing about it. Oddly enough I can find a set of cams.
What is the biggest set of valves you can stuff into these heads. Anyone have a set of ported heads? What are the Gaines? |

If I am not mistaken the porting on the stock heads is already fairly aggressive. If you go too far you may have some issues due to the Double VANOS. May want to consider talking to VAC Motorsports as they have design a performance cylinder head for the s65.

That 16.5L is 34"w x 26"H x 32L can't recall what its weight is but aluminum block and heads with Ti rods can't be too much. But seriously all joking aside, what is big NA hp of the M3? And again who is the M3's goto person for ported heads and what size valves can be stuffed in? What aftermarket springs, retainers ect are avaliable? |

Don't need bigger valves. Bigger valves, more weight. The intake side is perfect the way it is, the exhaust side is the one that needs work plus my motor is LC VT3 .

Roughly, stock power is 400 rwhp in modded NA form, 600 rwhp in stage 2 centrifugal form, and 700 rwhp with a built motor in stage 3 centrifugal form. For most people, 600 rwhp would be big power for one of these motors. For the people who have made 600 rwhp, big power probably means 700. For the few who have made 700 rwhp, it probably means 800 rwhp or more. There are a few projects underway to make 800-1000 rwhp. Not sure how far along they are. They are so far beyond my means that I do not follow them closely. |

Unless the M3 V8 is under 150lbs, your mistaking...I'll assume you where joking. :-) I'm not looking to start any crazy arguments. 600rwhp is just when things start to get fun INHOP :-). Hope to see one of these engines break 1000rwhp. After all a dinky 3.0L I6 can do it, why not a 4.6L V8-TT( and sound better doing it). :-) I would like to get more technical in this thread. Does anyone have flow numbers for the stock heads? What is the stock (and ported) port flow numbers? What is the stock Valve size? Stock Valve spring rate? Stock Valve spring style? Stock Port size (intake and exhaust) Are the heads water cooled? If so, how and at what areas does the water flow? |
