Why isn't the e9x M3 considered one of the best?

This is only my second M3 besides my '98 M3 sedan that I sold in 2006. Like most of us I've had a lot of time to watch YouTube and I've seen a lot of videos claiming to countdown the best BMWs ever made with the e46 being the common favorite. I don't believe I've seen one video having the e9x M3 platform on any list. Why is that?

Everyone has their own opinions . It's a debate that will never end. All of them have their own place.

For the duration of e9x m3 production, and even sometime after, it annihilated the competition by a margin that hasn't been seen since. The future will look back on this car with great respect.

I just bought my second one to replace the one I sold a few years ago. I spent a few months looking for a car under 50k that I enjoyed more than the E9x M3 and nothing except for the 997T( well over 50k) even challenged it. I personally am not a fan of the E46 M3 but I loved my E36 M3’s.

I think time will look back favorably upon this generation BMW (M3 & 1M). Especially the M3. Last generation M3 with a NA engine, last generation M3 with hydraulic steering, last generation M3 that was able to be configured w/o a screen or nav display, the list goes on. E46 is all the hype right now, but just give it time. I personally wasn't impressed with my E46 M3.

I find YouTube to have many high profile videos showing love to the M3 E92.

Matt Farah's Smoking Tire E92 M3 ZCP review is a great example, or Carfection's look back to the GTS. The Auto.nl guys reviewing it against the RS5 and C63 AMG, or Clarkson toying with a RS5, and Hammond destroying the C63 & RS4 on track. Tiff Needle going crazy at its launch, Vicky loving the GTS over the RS. The AutoRepublic (OG Harris) putting it above the C63 and ISF.

Ignore the comment sewers, the E46 has reached overhyped status and their value makes less sense each passing day as they close in on E9X value.

The E9X still needs its 3rd and 4th owner purge of the 08 models to start stabilizing and appreciating. Certain specs already have; E90 ZCPs & E92 ZCPs with Individual Paint are all on the rise.

Yep. Won every comparison in its class. The e9x was the last M car with balls.

Now, M division gets their asses handed to them by mustangs and camaros.

Anybody with an iPhone/camera/laptop and an opinion can make their own video, slideshow, list, article, etc. proclaiming whatever they'd like.

There are plenty of opinion pieces putting the E9x M3 at the top or on the list of greatest or best BMW/M-Car/M3/engine/all around car/sports sedan/sports coupe, etc.

There are also plenty of opinion pieces where the E9x M3 is the least favorite in whatever categories are being compared (i.e., looks, driving, BMW M cars, M3 generations, etc.).

While it's nice to have confirmation bias, the E9x M3, like everything else in this world, has its advocates and detractors.

And those Youtubers? I wouldn't worry about them.
