M3 production officially sold out :(
Well gents (and ladies), the sad day we all knew was coming has finally arrived: http://f80.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=835953
Stay extra careful out there folks, because if you total yours now you won't be able to order another one just like it anymore! Farewell S65 and all that you represent. You are truly a high-water mark of engine development, not just for BMW M but for the entire industry, as evidenced by the fact that you won International Engine of the Year award for all 5 years you've been eligible so far.

At least there are still some new ones sitting on the dealers lot.
I'm contemplating if I should pick up a 13 and wait 2-3 years for the M4 or just wait it out in general... |

The legend has come to a end. I was so hoping BMW had a true limited edition to give us before this monster was no more. I will not get rid of her ever I will buy a new one but never get rid.

So sad...I am lucky and blessed enough to have owned an '11 and my new '13 e92's. Hopefully it will retain some kind of value in the future. I plan on keeping it for a while anyway.

GTS/CRT .... the 4.4 is the only rare M3 out there...all the other limited editions gets diluted b/c they open it up to be customized as an "Individual"

very true but we cant get them in the US i think. but money can get anything. I was thinking more like a CSL something that us in the US can have and not just a paint job. i would love to have that 4.4l if it was avalible when i got mine i would have got that one well at least i think i would have. $$$$$$

From that article:
"Car and Driver: The current M3 was fitted with a unique M engine. Will future vehicles be derived from existing BMW engines, or will you continue to afford yourself the luxury of bespoke M engines, like the naturally aspirated V-8 and V-10? BMW M CEO Friedrich Nitschke: At the core of their architecture, our engines will be closer to BMW AG engines. But they will be optimized for the specific needs of M customers, so we can still essentially speak of standalone engines" Non-double-speak-non-spin translation: "No, we won't make anything special for M's; we will modify the regular engines they give us." Grrrrrrrr. - V .

I pick up my Space Gray/Fox Red at the Welt in two weeks. With 90K on my '08, I just wanted the V8 and maybe I will put less miles on this one. I saw a hint that ceramic brakes are on the new one? That would be great, maybe in a few years the M3/M4.

* Given how expensive the "special editions" to date have been, it seems that a _real_ special edition would be like $250k. :s * I have had several cars in my life that I regret getting rid of (in particular, a pristine 1968 GT350 Fastback; what can I say, I was young and stupid . . .), but I will definitely not make that mistake again (barring a very serious need to do so). I definitely plan on keeping mine until (1) I die, or (2) it gets totally destroyed. |
