It happens with every desirable car out there (S2000, Supra, E46 M3).

I grew up driving B13 '91-'94 Nissan Sentra SE-Rs. A 1991 SE-R was my first car 26 years ago. I also raced them in NASA/SCCA. I would pay for the moon for one if 1) I could find one and 2) it was stock.

That old argument?
Sedan is shorter, is more rigid, and has lower driver position. E92 is only 22 lbs lighter, carbon roof and all. Maybe if they didn't stretch the E92 for pure aesthetics...
And manual is even lighter than the DCT e92 with CF roof

Yep. And also, a BMW dealer is the LAST place you want to take cars like these. They could care less about speed cloth, unicorns or strippers and what their real value is. They don't know their assholes from a hole in the ground.
Only a small segment of the population cares about strippers and unicorns. Although there are guys who care about stripper, who in turn care about unicorns.

Agreed, that's why there are so few of them. Most people want some packaging/options.

Each of us like what we like, and I think it's great there's members proudly wanting/owning M3 strippers. For me, I wanted pretty much everything available and wasn't willing to budge otherwise (got everything except extended leather).

With all that said, my idea of a unicorn is something with individual paint/interior and/or maybe a frozen colored car or Limerock, but not a minimally optioned car w/ standard paint. Just my opinion.

About a year ago there was a stripper LRP for sale. 6MT, cloth seats and no Nav but with stock MPE and orange paint. Only one I've ever seen. Sorry boys LRP only came in coupe e92 body.

In 2012 I began my search for an E9X M3 in used condition, following my destruction of an E92 M3 2011. I knew I would buy an older M3.

One of the first used cars I tested was a rare 2010 black E90 stripper with manual seats and no Navi. As soon as I drove the car it felt badly used - out of sorts, a misaligned car with some noisy brakes and a bumpy ride. The used car sales guy said the owner had it as a driver's car and that it was highly desirable due to the low price. Well it was 48k, and had over 35k miles at the time. Judging how it drove this was a non-maintained track car. I walked away. Some unicorn / stripper that was.

I drove another 3 cars until I purchased mine, an older 2008 with 56k miles and 4 owners, the first two being BMW NA registered as owner. And despite all the selection it still wound up needing a fair amount of work.

My take is that it is best to drive the car and regardless of equipment, buy based on body condition, interior conditions, driving feel, inspection results and not on saving some weight or less tech, in the effort to achieve more carefree ownership.

I have a 2011.75 E90 6MT ordered through the ED program. I originally wanted minimal/no options except for comp package -- when I was done with my order I added comp package, leather, BMW apps, carbon leather trim, Nav and sunroof.

I would imagine this is a fairy rare combination because of 6MT, comp, and manual seats.

Silverstone 08 e90 with speed cloth and no nav but heated power seats and sunroof =(. I still love it though. Got it with 28k mi 2 years ago and now at 41k mi.

It doesn't have nav/MDM so it has this weird quirk that it doesn't always remember the "Power" setting when turned off. Sometimes it'll start up with Power on even though I always turn it off. There's a joke in here somewhere...

Thanks! It took over a year to find it. Going through the opposite of a mid-life crisis right now so, would be open to a sale if there's someone looking for this type of unicorn. Located on Long Island, NY.

2008 E90 6MT in Alpine White over Fox Red. No EDC, nav, or sunroof and bone-stock except for a tune and the Motorsport steering wheel. Love it!

I'm still a bit more to pay off the 1M or I would be very interested..

As more and more cars go turbo, gadgetry, smaller motors, I am finding that the N/A V8 MT is climbing my desirability scale!

I keep forgetting about this being an option because it looks so natural on the car. But I also have this, but with speed cloth (in addition to no nav, 6mt, blue tooth, heated seats, CF roof and ZCP). Otherwise, my car looks like the stereotypical e92 M3 around these parts--white with ZCP.

Post a pic please. Not sure I've seen the carbon cloth or not.

Close. 08 Silverstone E90, 6MT, no sunroof (super solid, no squeaks/rattles), no nav, does have electric/heated leather seats, 34K miles, was and still is garage kept. Bought it in NC 4 years ago, drove it home to NJ with my son. Great machine.
