engine mounts

Since i had the rod bearings changed, I wanted to do the engine mounts as well. Even though the car has less than 10000 miles it still is over 14 years old.

They looked fine, no tears but if you compare to a brand new one there is a 5-6 millimeter difference.

Significant shrinkage. Have they been anywhere near the pool? Or is it due to 14 years of S65 compression?

Having removed ACL H-STD after 3,000km to inspect, now doing again with 6,000km, and one trackday. New reason this time.

Pity the bearings are covered in oil, it somewhat masks them.
But otherwise, they look typical for the tin/alu bearings, relatively ok ish.

Thanks for sharing! Are those mains almost done or do you think they could go another 100k?

Huge job, ha?

Is there any journal about it?

Thx! Yes, what i removed are OEM BMW bearings.

Going back in are ACL STD bearings and OEM mains. I didn't do a journal, i do regularly post on Instagram (@clubsport.m3). Maybe i update my topic when I have the time.

The mains are deffinately through, some went through a 2nd or 3rd layer already. I don't think they would have survived another season.

Mains don't look terrible!
Some of the rod bearings don't look great though, would you be interested in doing a quick little experiment on at least 1 of the worst rod bearings?

These were mine with 80.000km and 20 seconds of oil starvation. Some random guy asked me for them, and put them in an engine he is repairing.

Yea not too bad, typical of the alu/tin/copper bearings.
Good to see that with high mileage.
