Lol, no probs , my French relatives sometimes struggle with my Franglais
Ah the keyhole in the door, got ya. Disengaged? Btw, interesting that water spray can provide enough conductivity!

Guess your doesn't work but heres a finel input just to be on the safe side mate: The grooved bit on the upper side is for your thumb to LOCK the car. To unlock you simply grab the hande, guess theres a sensor on the inside as well.

Well, I thought I was done and dusted with the battery drain issue.
But today I went to drive it after 3 weeks garaged (been too busy to drive it ), and the battery was absolutely dead flat! I had charged it 3 weeks prior too, so not only have I still got a problem, but that drain is far worse than it ever has been, previously it'd been very low after 4 weeks on the new battery (and cold weather), but never totally dead ffs! I hope their are some codes stored, because if not I've no idea how to trace an intermittent drain..... Oh btw, touching the door handle doesn't unlock my car.

Had the DMM on it today measuring the drain, and by blind luck the fault occurred!
Drain didn't drop below 0.15A, and about every 10s their was a buzz of a relay (1st time I've heard that happen!) which gave a drain spike of over 2A. The buzzing relay comes from a module right next to the battery, behind the sound insulation (is the module to do with the central locking?). When this happens the car doesn't respond to the keyfob, I have to unlock it with the key, then it responds to the keyfob, also the buzzing every 10s stops. I had noticed that occasionally the keyfob seemed to stop working before, I thought it was maybe the keyfob battery going low (so I put it in the slot more), but clearly it's not that. I did a code scan, and obviously got a ton related to the battery going dead flat, but I also got 3 relating to the drivers door handle, I think I got at least one of those codes before (thought I recorded them too, I hadn't it seems). Also a little latter (after driving it), it refused to lock on the 1st 3 or so attempts, so I guess the drivers handle's buggered!? Could it be anything else? Presumably a faulty handle is what's causing the module to sometimes buzz every 10s?

Ah, good to know! (I was beginning to wonder that after reading about CAS problems for the 5 series), so non CAS cars have a fixed rechargeable battery?

....btw my driver side CA door stopped working, after all these years of perfection.... No codes but assume there is a sensor in there. To be sorted later...

Well, if that's the only thing that's gone wrong that's not bad!
Guess we'll both be Googling it to see if we can repair it, or whether it needs a new part. This site seems like a good start...

I haven't replaced the handle yet, but I've unplugged it, and since doing that I haven't seen any signs of an excessive drain. And the central locking hasn't played up either .
And thanks for answering my question, good to know that's the CAS module (which makes sense).
